WHAT IS THE BLACK GIRL MAGIC COLLECTIVE?

The Black Girl Magic Collective is a vibrant movement dedicated to supporting, uplifting and inspiring young Black girls and women to acknowledge and unlock their innate magic.

Eboni Morgan’s debut book, A Year of Black Girl Magic was published in 2021 as a gift to Black girls and women around the world. Drawing on her own experiences and stories of growing up as a young Black girl in a predominantly white town, A Year of Black Girl Magic is filled with words Eboni, and so many other young Black girls and women need to hear. It is an intentional compilation of quotes, affirmations and reflections to remind Black women of their innate magic.

In 2023, Eboni hosted the official book launch of and created the Black Girl Magic Collective - a nonprofit geared towards inspiring Black women to acknowledge and unlock their inherent worth and magic.

The Black Girl Magic Collective hosted its first event in conjunction with the AYOBGM book launch titled - A Day of Black Girl Magic. The event aimed to empower Black women and celebrate sisterhood and community through various self-love and reflection activities while creating a space for intimate wellness experiences, intentional rest, and deep connection. This was just the first step in creating a Collective dedicated to improving the social, spiritual, emotional and environmental well-being of Black women across the Greater Toronto Area. This event was followed by the D.R.E.A.M Vision Board Party hosted in collaboration with Take Khair Beauty in March 2024. These are the first of many intentional spaces catered to Black women. Watch a recap of the A Day of Black Girl Magic book launch below:

The BGM Collective aims to connect with and support Black women through the following components:

1. Mentorship and Community Building: The Collective fosters mentorship, collaboration and community building, providing Black women and girls with support and guidance to navigate various aspects of their lives.

2. Holistic Wellbeing: Through wellness events and resources, the Collective prioritizes the holistic wellbeing of Black women and girls, promoting physical, mental, and emotional health.

3. Sisterhood: Building sisterhood is a core aspect of the Collective, creating spaces for collaboration, support, and solidarity among Black women, recognizing the power of unity in effecting change.

4. Empowerment and Advocacy: The Collective empowers Black women and girls to challenge societal norms and advocate for themselves, amplifying their voices and addressing systemic barriers to equity, decolonization and representation.

In its essence, the Black Girl Magic Collective celebrates the unique power, brilliance, and magic of Black women, amplifying their voices and building a more inclusive and equitable future for generations to come. In prioritizing our well-being, we simultaneously heal the wounds of our ancestors and build a strong foundation for generations to come. The BGM Collective will remain a safe landing space for Black women and girls to ground in sisterhood, reclaim their wellness, rewrite their narratives and flourish.
